It is the centre of our own galaxy, however it still takes light emitted from it around 27,000 years to reach us. By comparison it takes 8 minutes 20 seconds for light from our own sun to reach us and just 1.3 seconds from our moon. Our galaxy is just one of many, a scale that is truly mind boggling.
